A Week's Worth of Groceries for about $60.00

Hello Everyone! In this post im going to be blogging about the places I frequently buy my groceries and how myself this "girl on a budget" can still make, snack, and enjoy great food for a great price.

If you have not yet had the opportunity to visit a Neighborhood Walmart I am saddened for you. What is a Neighborhood Walmart? I just found out myself a few days ago when I got to visit one myself. A neighborhood Walmart is basically a Walmart with nothing but groceries, a few cleaning products, cosmetics, and personal care items... etc. I live in Central Florida near a Walmart Super Center that is open 24 hours and is constantly busy due to the tourists visiting from out of town and the fact that its only a few miles for Disney World. I dread going in there. Its hot, packed, and you constantly get shoved around. I myself enjoy my grocery shopping days and would rather drive a few extra miles to a place that is less crowded and enjoyable. Thats why when i came across this neighborhood Walmart and I saw that it was tiny and had basically just food which is all i really needed i was in heaven. Below is a picture of what a neighborhood Walmart looks like and how it is different from the Super Centers:

This perticular picture is not the exact neighborhood Walmart in my area, but the general idea of them is that they will have green lettering and have mostly just groceries and a smaller space ( like the size of your regular grocery store). What I love the most is that you can get those great Walmart prices and not have to bother with the busy super centers. I bought stuff to make chicken tacos, snacks to go in lunches for work, ground chicken, frozen vegtables, beverages, a loaf of bread, drink mixes etc for under $30.00. The bill came to $28 and some change... AWESOME!!!. Overall, if you are from up north like I am from orginally ( Illinois) and may not have ever heard of this type of Walmart, just like i didnt until a few days ago. If you ever get the chance to visit and you will always be a Walmart girl or guy at heart ( like me!) check out a Neighborhood Walmart.. Im telling ya they are pretty neat!!!

Next, in order for me to save so much $ on my groceries every week I try to browse the weekly ads i either get in the mail or online, and I also try to visit more than one store in a shopping trip. My second favorite store is ALDI!!! Growing up in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago, we had Aldi everywhere. It became the place to go to save some cash on groceries as I was growing up and to this day I go there as often as I can and get excited to see what I can find for a bargain next. :) What I love about Aldi is that they keep their prices low by having you bag your own groceries and rent out a shopping cart. You have to place a quarter in the cart to unhook it from a chain to be able to use it. Then, at the end of your shopping you return the cart, hook it back with the others and get your quarter back!!! I love this because your cart is never beat up or whobbly, parked next to your car or in the middle of the road! Way to go Aldi!! Also i love Aldi because the prices are nearly cut in half. 90% of the products sold there are generic which to me its all the same. But, every once in awhile Aldi will have a few name brand products that tend to be sold at a cheaper price. Below is a picture of what an aldi generally looks like. This one is not the exact store i visit but is similar in looks to mine.

During this trip i bought fruit, veggies, meat, garlic bread, granola bars, peanuts, sour cream, butter, yogurt, cheese, french toast sticks and waffles, ice cream bars, juice drinks, chips, etc all for under $32.00!!! the total came to $31 and some change. Aldi gets high marks with me. If you havent been to Aldi make it your next shopping location your wallet will thank you! :)

Thanks to my two favorite stores for on a budget I can continue to cook, eat, and enjoy my shopping experiences!!! Hope you all can too!!!

ENJOY!

Disney Park Food Favorites: The Soft Pretzel with Cheese!!

Hello Everyone! I apologize for the delay in food posting, but I have been kinda busy lately thinking of fun new foodie ideas and of course when im not doing that im working for the most magical place on earth! Speaking of, I would like to start my first foodie post showcasing park food! I would like to create a section of my blog for every time i venture to the parks. It is going to be titled just like this one. Disney Park Food Favorties. This means that every time im in the parks and indulge in some of my favorite park food, I will share it all with you in this blog! Fun right? hehe. So here goes...

One of my favorite things at the Disney parks is the soft pretzel with cheese. Many of you may think oh you can get a soft pretzel anywhere and its probably just a frozen pretzel they unthaw from a box. Yes, this is true but its all how you unthaw that boxed pretzel that makes it so delish! :)

What i truly enjoy in the parks pretzel is that it is super soft, never dried out and they are HUGE!!! a few weeks ago my boyfriend and I spent the day at Disney's Hollywood Studios, one of my favorite parks for quick foodie eats. While i generally highlight this park for their AMAZING cupcakes, I was in more of a savory mood that day. So I opted for the soft pretzel with cheese or as i like to call it "plastic cheese" haha. ( you know that processed cheese sauce goodness that we all love!!) While the pretzel is $4.50 I highly recommend it for its taste and the fact that its so big it will fill you up for awhile and thats exactly what any girl on a budget like me loves!!!! My boyfriend and I had a great snack that filled us up and was delish! yay!

Here's a photo of the Soft Pretzel with ("plastic cheese")  :)

YUM! so next time you get the opportunity to travel to Walt Disney World and would like a quick snack. Choose the pretzel as your savory option... Trust me your stomach will thank you!!!! :)

ENJOY!
